Viva Las Vegas

Tyson turned the big thirty back at the end of July.  I am finally getting around to posting about it.  I wanted to do something fun and special, but Tyson is totally anti-surprise party.  He told me he would hate me and make the party completely miserable if I tried.  I know my husband well enough to know he wasn't exaggerating and know what would make his perfect birthday, so I went ahead with the planning.  It was tough to get everything arranged and live in a lie for about a month.  I almost slipped so many times and was so grateful when I didn't have to worry about that anymore.   I went to California the weekend before with my family for their family vacation and Tyson couldn't go because of his work.  Taye Lynn and I were supposed to fly home the day before his birthday, but I needed her to stay in California so my parents could watch her for the weekend. I knew Tyson would flip at the airport when I showed up empty-handed without his daughter and was desperately trying to think of how I would pull this part off.  I was laying in bed the night before stressing out about it and came up with the brilliant excuse that I forgot her birth certificate and made up some mumbo-jumbo about how they wouldn't let me on the plane without it because they don't know if she is really my daughter and I could be kidnapping her, yaydi, yahda....  well, it worked.  I played that I was super upset by it all and having to leave her in California and must having done a convincing acting job.  Then I had my doctor appointment to find out the sex of the baby, so he got distracted finding out his little boy was on the way!

The next day (his actual birthday) we were on our "way to lunch" at LGO with his parents and got off on the airport turn-off.  At first he thought his dad was just not paying attention and then he turned around to look at me and I had the camera out and it all clicked in his head.  I got this reaction...

a classic truly estactic look!  So we caught our flight to Vegas and I had reservations at "The Steak House" that night.  It is his absolute favorite restaurant.  A "hidden gem" (as the cab driver called it) and he got his best-ever filet dinner.
After we were completely stuffed from dinner, we met up for a little midnight bowling at Gold Coast.  One of our favorite things to do in Vegas ( 99 cents a game between midnight and 7 am).  We bowled until we couldn't keep our eyes open anymore :)
The rest of the weekend was fun, filled with all the craziness in Vegas and lots to do.  By the time we were on the flight home, Tyson was anxious to go see Taye Lynn.
Sunday we had the family thing with his favorite apple dumlings for dessert.
and most of the family :)
Reunited with his daughter at last... his perfect birthday gift.
Happy Birthday Old Man!  WE LOVE YOU LOTS!
