Accidents

Wow! So we are doing the potty training thing and it is hands down the worst part of parenting (thus far :). Taye just can't seem to get it down and I am already going crazy. She doesn't seem to mind pee dripping down her legs. I bribed her with a potty party once we are "diaper free", but I think I am the one who is going to deserve a party when it is all said and done. Any suggestions would be welcome! This is the text Tyson received from me yesterday... "Is it okay to rub Taye's nose in her pee?" :) and yes, I am kidding...

I love your text to Tyson. I was laughing so hard. Good luck with potty training. I hear girls are easier than boys, so this will be good practice for Cruz. :)

You are so cracking me up right now!!! Hilarious!! Tell her she can't go in Grandma Terri's living room, have to keep the gates closed....can't pee on the carpet!!

I don't look forward to this day for us. My mom said that when she was potty training my sister, someone told her to smear poop on her face and let her see it and that would do the trick. You never know...but I'm sure the child would be scarred forever.

I know I need to potty train Griff, but I'm dreading it and so I just keep putting it off!! I hear girls are easier than boys though. So I must be in for a treat! Good luck. Give me some pointers when you're done:)

Ahh, so much fun. I don't look forward to doing that again. One suggestion...Sarah had one of her boys pick out a light saber toy at the store to use as a bribe for potty training for a week. He gave up after a day or two. She realized that for him, a big reward in the future didn't work that well. As far as he was concerned, he was never going to get it. Small, immediate rewards (pieces of candy) given right after worked better (which you're probably doing anyway).

Eric had to be bribed with mini-sized snickers to go #2. But it worked...eventually :)

oh girl, i agree that potty training is THE WORST! I dread and hate it all together. both maggie and lucas didn't train until they were 3 and it was soo much easier. maggie loves stickers so we did a sticker chart and that seemed to work for her. lucas had a "potty bucket" which was full of goodies from the dollar store and he got to pick something out each time he went. just be consistent and she'll catch on, i promise! good luck!

I HATE it too! Luckily Kassidy potty trained herself! She was so easy! Maybe Kassidy could talk her into it! =)

awe man, I'm sorry, potty training does suck. I agree with all the other tips. small immediate rewards. And I think the key is WAITING.

#1 took a good six months to a year to potty train (I have no clue why I started at 2 yrs, that was stupid!) Then with #2 I waited until he was 3 to even start, within a month he was golden. #3, has a mind of her own and potty trained herself, cause I wasn't ready.

Every kid is different, timing is everything!

Mia was very stubborn too, but what worked for her was the "Big Girl Potty Box" I made. I basically went to walgreens and bought pool toys and other little goodies that I wrapped individually. Each time she went peepee on the potty she got to pick a present to unwrap. It was golden!
